The Notified Body according to paragraph 4.2 of ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17020, is classified as type A notified bodies and must therefore satisfy the requirements of Annex A. In particular, the Notified Body must satisfy the following independence criteria:
- The Notified Body and its staff responsible for carrying out inspections must not be the designer, manufacturer, supplier, installer, purchaser, owner, user or maintainer of the vehicles being inspected, nor the authorized representative any of the above parties,
- The Notified Body and its staff must not be associated with activities that may conflict with their independence of judgment and integrity, nor be directly involved in the design, manufacture, supply, installation, use or maintenance of the vehicles that controlled or similar competition,
- All stakeholders must have access to the notified body’s services, without undue financial or other conditions, and both audit procedures and other procedures related to the general operation of the body must be conducted in an impartial manner.
All the above are ensured through the application of this ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17020 Quality System.
The Notified Body’s staff declares to maintain their independence, integrity and impartiality in the performance of their duties as well as to ensure the confidentiality of the information that comes to their attention by signing the “Confidentiality & Impartiality Declaration” form, Δ06E01 .
