moving escalators and walkways
An escalator is a vertical people transport mechanism, in the form of an escalator or walkway, and usually carries people between floors of a large building (especially a department store), in subway stations, and elsewhere.
A moving walkway is a motorized installation for transporting people, in which the surface that carries the user remains parallel to the direction of movement and is continuous (e.g. pallets, belt).
According to the legislation (Government Gazette 765/2/2013), escalators and moving walkways are mandatorily subject to:
- Initial inspection type A for new installations or type A1 in the event of a major change in the installation (change of installation location, speed, electrical safety devices, braking system, driving and control system of the escalator or walkway), after indication of the responsible maintainer.
- In annual periodical inspection type B
